# 54 – #WeekendCoffeeShare July 17

If we were having coffee…

I would tell you that I cannot believe it is mid-July already and I feel like I haven’t even begun to experience any “summer” activities.  During the week has been super busy, this is about the time that I wish I stayed with my plan for being a teacher!

My older son goes to school (they call it extended school year) for July and August to make sure he keeps up with his reading and math progress.  It’s only Tues-Fri and half days, so not too horrible and amazingly….he does not complain!

The little guy goes to camp every day.  This is where I forget that he is indeed only 5 years old (almost 6).  I’m very happy with the camp, but it is a really long day for him playing and swimming non-stop from about 8-5ish.  He started getting a little weepy with me last week (only in Week 3 of 9) that he didn’t want to go to camp.  I’m pretty sure it’s due to him being so tired.  I feel bad, but really what can I do, I have to work.  I think he’s having good time and great experiences….just a long day.

So with that being said, I am very busy in the mornings trying to catch the bus and drive to camp and then drive to work.  When we get home, they take showers and put their pajamas right on.  So really…that’s our whole night….make dinner and then it’s bed time.

Weekends have been filled with birthday parties, family functions, etc.  I guess I answered my own question as to why we haven’t done too much yet this summer!

I have mentioned before that I am attending school again and have finished two classes so far (with A’s go me!).  This third class I am worried about.  It’s Statistics for Business Decisions….just the name kind of makes me cringe.  I HAVE to get through it and stop quitting when it gets too hard, but it’s…..hard!  And to get out my tiny violin…I’m just tired of everything being hard.  But I’ll put my big girl panties on and keep on going, like I always do.

So this coffee talk has been great, but I have a paper to write…

If we were having coffee…

I would give you one of my large 16oz coffee cups and tell you to get comfortable on my couch.  I feel like this has been a whirlwind week.  I probably say this every week, but really, I mean…it’s June for goodness sake!

One of my favorite things to do (besides drink coffee) is to drink coffee with one of my friends and just being able to relax, shoot the shit, and have no where I have to be…..ahhh sounds delightful doesn’t it??!!

One super exciting thing that happened yesterday is that I got to watch my brother-in-law propose to his girlfriend!  It was a lot of fun knowing a little secret and watching it unfold!  Congrats to this amazing couple…very happy for them and hope for nothing but the best in their future!

Other than that exciting news, this week was a flash.  I did not follow my usual laundry schedule, or any type of schedule for that matter.  That makes me a little crazy…I admit it.  I need my lists and to be able to cross things off to feel accomplished.  I have issues…I know.

So today, the first thing on my agenda, after my coffee of course, is to make a list of everything I would like to accomplish for today to get ready for work tomorrow.  I am already shuttering at the thought of Monday morning….ugh!

Enjoy your day, make your to do lists and be amazing!

If we were having coffee…

I would say “Come on in…I’m on my 2nd cup!”.  After my business trip last week, I have felt like I’ve been playing tag with getting back to reality, with reality always being at the tip of my fingers, but never really catching it.

Once I get into a good routine, if I slip out of it, it’s so hard to get back to that place.  I was determined that going on this trip would not do that to me, but it somewhat has.  Like does it matter that my son doesn’t have any pajamas in his drawer…throw on some comfy shorts for goodness sake!  The laundry will eventually get done or it’s probably sitting in the dryer for the past 2 days…go look in there!

On a good note though, I have successfully completed my first class since going back to school!!  Woot Woot!  I have a little break before starting the next class…this is another routine I need to keep on top of.  I’ve been stopping and starting school for the past few years and I really just need to finish.  But you know…life gets kind of hectic!

Speaking of hectic…ugh…THIS weekend…is all I have to say!  On that note, laundry is calling my name (actually the whole house is pretty much whispering my name that it needs some help)…where are those good little fairies that come and clean your house while you’re sleeping??!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

If we were having coffee…

I would invite you in and probably still be in my pajamas and tell you it has been a long week and today is my day to relax.

I had a business trip from Tuesday to Friday in Florida and I usually only do a business trip once a year, so it’s exhausting for me.  The one benefit is that it was in Disney and we got to go to Hollywood Studios and Epcot after the conference.  I haven’t been to Disney since I was a kid with my parents, so I love to volunteer for this trip and take advantage.  So being up early in the mornings, cold conference rooms, exhaustion from the parks, and out much later than I normally go to bed…I also picked up a cold Friday morning.

I was just sick about 2 weeks ago and I’m cranky that I don’t feel well again.  So this is why I’m in my pajamas and just staying in for the day before work starts again Monday.

Oh and funny story about getting ready to leave for my trip Tuesday morning.  I am loading up my car with my luggage and the kids had broken half of the handle off my suitcase.  So I start to lift the suitcase the the remaining portion of the handle and it comes flying off and I punch myself right in the face.  Like a for real punch!!  I bit my tongue and made my chin bleed!  I was praying this wasn’t an indication of the rest of my morning!!!  Thankfully it was not, and I had to shake it off as a typical Kristen move!

This is also my last week of my current class…two days and counting.  I have a paper to write which I’m also planning on working on the majority of it today. (It’s so much fun writing blogs instead!)  But I have to say these past 5 weeks went by so fast and I hope the rest of my classes go by just as fast.

I also can’t believe how fast May has gone by on the other hand…how could this be the last full week already?!?  Please Summer, when you finally get here, go slooooow!

Well off to write my paper!  Thanks to listening to me rant and I hope you have a nice weekend!

Before I jump right in, I wanted to remind you I currently have a giveaway going on, with 2 days left, to win a $25 Amazon Gift Card (see blog # 33 – #BetterPersonChallenge & Giveaway ).  You get 3 chances to enter!!!  Go for it!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…what a weekend!!  I “tried” to have a nice little family vacation, just the 3 of us, over the weekend.  So as soon as the kids got off the bus on Friday, we jumped in the car and took off.  Well, the weather wasn’t great and was raining, which meant traffic everywhere.  What should have taken us 2 hours took almost 3.

Once we got to our destination, we got out of the car and my older guy seemed to have some car sickness and started puking right there in the parking lot.  Thankfully I am no longer phased by this and when he was done I said “Are you good now?” with which he really “Yup”.

In the earlier part of this weekend, I was very sick with a horrible cough, which still seems to be hanging on for dear life.  My big guy has started with the cough as well on Friday.  Since we had such a long car ride and a pukefest, I decided we would grab a little dinner and just do some walking around the resort.  Finally we decided to call it a night, but my big guy started to not feel so well again and was coughing his brains out and said his stomach hurt.

Not getting much sleep from the coughing, I woke up and he was burning up…he now had a fever (was also sleeping next to a garbage can..just in case).  Thank goodness I brought the Motrin and the fever went away.

A couple more hours of sleep and the next thing I know; I am being awoken by the hotel’s fire alarm!  Well my big guy starts freaking out and runs out of the hotel room while I’m still trying to get out of bed and get my pants on.  All of the guests are standing in the hallway just kinda of staring at each other like wtf is going on?!?

I decide, well I’m not going to just stand here if something is really going down and start walking down the hall.  I run into some people walking the opposite way and ask if they knew what was going on.  It was something with the cleaning people and steam set off the alarm.  Back to our room we go!

So to make this long story short (or shorter), the big guy was miserable both days we were there and we didn’t get to do as much as we had planned.  I do have to give them credit though, they both behaved and no major meltdowns or anything.

On our way home, we stopped at an Urgent Care before even getting home to get him checked out.  He is now set up with meds and hopefully feeling better tomorrow.

Hey….I tried, right?!  I hope you had a better weekend!

If we were having coffee today, I would be trying to find a spot on the couch that the kids have not taken over with toys or legos and I would wish you a Happy Mother’s Day and hope you get treated special today!

This week has been a busy one and happy to spend the day home!  Somehow a lot of chores have gotten away from me this week…so excuse the mess.  I have just gotten done making a list of everything I want to accomplish today because if I don’t, I start doing 5 different things and not completely finishing anything.  I need that simply task of being able to cross an item off my list and then it makes me feel like I’m making progress.

So this week, I have started my journey with Invisalign.  I will keep you updated with progress…so far so good!  I never had braces when I was younger because it was mainly cosmetic reasons.  So now that I’m older and making my kids teeth beautiful, I’m ready to fix mine as well.  Just one of those things that will make me feel better about myself.  Most people’s reaction are “I didn’t even know you needed braces” but I KNOW how I feel and I think this will be a good thing in the end.

I have also gotten my landscaping done…first time I haven’t done it myself since I lived on my own.  I didn’t do a whole lot to it last spring/summer and it was looking like a big project out there.  Plus, since my surgery (gallbladder removal) I should not be lifting anything heavy, so carrying bags of mulch was out of the question.  So now that it’s done…I am so relieved and happy on making the decision to let someone else take care of it.  It’s so nice to pull up to the house and see it all done!  Anything to make my life easier!

On Friday, I had a day full of Mother’s Day Tea with both of my boys at their school.  The teachers really do a great job and the kids were adorable!

Well I better be off to start checking items off my list to get things done today!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

If we were having coffee, I would be drinking my DunkinDonuts coffee (from the Keurig) out of one of my many favorite mugs….kinda have a thing for mugs.  Why?  I have no idea, but I can’t pass up a cute mug in a store! #thestruggleisreal

Speaking of Coffee, I have now also become a “barista” at work!  The need for “good” coffee is that important!

This week has been busy as usual.  The boys started taking Jui-Jitsu and finally it’s been a success…they love it!  But of course, why wouldn’t they??!!  They are wrestling with kids for an hour…not much different than at home, except they are being encouraged now!  But I am very happy for them and I see the confidence shining through already!  Their father is definitely looking down on them extremely proud.  He’s talked about this moment since they have been born!

I have completed Week One of school for myself and scored perfectly for the week!  Woot Woot!    Let’s keep this up!!  Hustle is the name of the game!  The only downside is that I’ve been awake later at night…but I keep saying it will be worth it in the end (I hope)!

It was also “Take Your Child to Work Day” on Thursday and the big guy was able to come with me!  Luckily work puts on a nice program for the kids all day and I got him back around 2:30 and I think his favorite part was just sitting at my desk and going through my drawers!

You ever have a friend that you can speak totally inappropriate to but know they would never get offended?  I luckily have a couple of them, but I got to have lunch with one of them who is a former co-worker, turned good friend, who has moved to CA.  I am lucky enough to score some time with him, in the little bit he has, while visiting the East Coast.  Great time and awesome pizza…that I just now realized I left my leftover pizza in the fridge at work…grrr.

I have also been reading more and more on female entrepreneurship, as well as, listening to different Podcasts on the subject.  It’s fascinating to me and enjoy hearing the stories of success and how they got there.  Hey you never know what the future will bring…It’s amazing what’s out there.

Since we now have this new schedule of Jui-Jitsu, I need to start making some meals today so we can quickly heat them up and then hit the road running to class.  I am getting more and more organized with planning meals and have a big “Don’t forget” magnetic pad on my fridge to remind me what I have frozen that needs to be taken out the night before.  Working great so far!!

This will be a short week for me at work since I am taking off Friday for Mother’s Day activities at the kiddos school…let’s hope this week goes fast!

Hope you all have a great week!  Enjoy!
